Contempt of court proceedings to be filed against National Council for Higher Education

Busoga University through its lawyers, Kwesigabo, Bamwine and Walubiri Advocates has written to the Executive Director, National Council for Higher Education, Prof. Opuda with the intention to file contempt of court proceedings against Prof. Opuda and the National Council for Higher Education.

This follows the Councilís revocation of Busoga Universityís provisional license despite the existence of a court order restraining the NCHE from doing so, pending the disposal of a case the University had filed, challenging the act of giving the notice of intention to revoke the provisional license.

The University demands that the NCHE signs another general notice cancelling the revocation which was done in contempt of court and to also publish a new general notice in the gazette, besides apologising to Busoga University, its staff and students.
